3 month old Baby Connor and parents enjoyed an extended stay in our cottage over Spring Break, 2007.

Dear Dinie and Carl,

On behalf of my parents and myself, congrats on your 25th Anniversary of innkeeping! The Cottage rocks. Perfect for a small family like us. We appreciate your welcoming little folk like me at your beautiful historic inn. Just think, i'll be 25 years old on your 50th!

"Our 20 year tradition continues!"

1870 Wedgwood Inn of New Hope - GuestsWhen my wife and I first chose an establishment in which to spend a few nights celebrating her birthday in January, 1987, she chose the Wedgwood Inn.  Before the days of the Internet, she had seen a picture of the main house and the 1833 Umpleby House next door in a brochure and was intrigued. But our delight upon entering the actual premises was much more profound, because it was indeed like stepping into the past. The rooms were all different, but the quality was wonderful with authentic touches of the period dotting each corner of our "home away from home" which it became every year after our initial visit.

Our hosts, Carl and Dinie Glassman and Jasper, the lab and now Tootsie, the lab, made us feel almost like family. Perhaps one of the highlights each year was getting to talk with other guests in the afternoon when tea and cookies were provided in the drawing room. On one memorable afternoon, we started telling jokes and almost missed dinner. Speaking of food, Carl and Dinie know every restaurant in town and make reservations for us, just as they did two nights ago on our last stay. But nothing can compare to the anticipation of having breakfast at the Wedgwood Inn unless it's tasting the actual food. There is always something special for guests in that bread basket or the oven.

My wife and I aren't unique in our repeated visit to the Wedgwood Inn. We often meet people who have been there numerous times. The charm of the city, the hosts, the rooms, the quality of the food and the chance to step back into the past make it our favorite place.

Dear Carl and Nadine,

Thanks again for taking our pictures! We had a wonderful time at your Bed and Breakfast! We couldn't have spent our 1st Anniversary at a nicer place! The room and gardens were so beautiful! We loved our first bed and breakfast experience and hope to visit again sometime! Thanks so much!  And special Happy 25th Anniversary to you.

Words cannot express how grateful we are for the wonderful memories you helped us create on our combination BabyMoon -Elopement- Honeymoon at your lovely inn. The Gazebo at Wedgewood Inn was the perfect spot for us to become husband and wife. Thank you for pulling all the details together for us! We simply would not have changed a thing! Your hospitality and accommodations are top notch. Kudos to your courteous and smiling staff too; you treated us like royalty throughout our four days. We'll be back (once we find a babysitter!).

Dinie and Carl and staff,

As always, Gabrielle and I would like to thank you and your staff for providing us with another memorable Spring getaway at our home away from home, the Carriage House. We would also like to express our gratitude to Carl for inviting us to join the crew on the wine cruise sponsored by Mother's restaurant. We thoroughly enjoyed the Sunset Riverboat cruise, the company and the fine fare. Attached are a few photographs that I took that evening.  Again, as always, thanks for making our stay in New Hope a memorable one. Happy Anniversary and continued success!

  - Sincerely, J. and G., Princeton, NJ, May 2008

Carl and Dinie, we are looking forward to our stay in June 2008. As Elle had said when she called yesterday, we were among the early visitors to the Wedgewood Bed and Breakfast Inn. We were there with friends in 1982 over, what we think was the 4th of July. We remember sitting on the porch with you guys and watching a parade so are guessing the 4th. We returned several times throughout the 80's because we enjoyed Wedgewood so much. We also rememeber that one of the times we came back we brought fresh bagels from New York because one of you had said 'there were no good bagels in New Hope'.  Anyway, time has passed and we are finally coming back.

  - B. and Elle, New York, New York

Sorry it took so long to send our pictures. Thanks again for a beautiful weekend. Great way to celebrate my 40th birthday! Your superb in-town location is exceeded only by your effortless hospitality and luxory accommodations. Happy Anniversary to you and Wedgwood Inn. And wishing you many more happy years of innkeeping.

Thanks again for all the courtesies that you have provided me during my many visits to your wonderful inns.

My wife and I have traveled all continents of the world and my favorite B&B is the Wedgewood Inn (and its sister Aaron Burr Inn both owned and operated by Carl and Dinie Glassman). The Aaron Burr is about a half block from the Wedgewood. Both Inns are right in the center of New Hope and a short walk to most of its main attractions. In each of the past 5 years, I have traveled from Minnesota to the New Hope area to observe all the azaleas and flowering trees in full bloom in historic and beautiful Bucks County PA. All of the rooms are very clean, tastefully furnished, and have comfortable mattresses. The breakfasts are also exceptional with a large bowl of fruit, freshly baked rolls, muffins and croissants, and quiche. The Glassmans are "hands on" proprietors and go out their way to assist you whenever you need it. The landscaping and flower beds at the Wedgewood (the product of Dinie's efforts) are delightful and offer several areas where you can sit and relax while planning your day ahead. If you are planning a trip to Bucks County, these B&Bs are a "don't miss" and I recommend that you make your reservation well in advance to guarantee the opportunity to stay there.

We’ve been visiting the Wedgewood Inn for over 10 years (at least 30 visits!). I guess you could call the Inn our home away from home. It’s our first choice destination when we need an escape from the stresses of the city and the work world (we’re from D.C.) -- we cannot think of any other place we’d rather go. One of the best things about the Inn is that it allows dogs. Dogs love the Inn and the town of New Hope. Everything a dog needs is at its doorstop -- walks on the canal and a doggie gourmet shop on Main Street. For humans, there are great restaurants, galleries, and shops. A local artist has painted portraits of both our dogs. If you love gardening, you couldn’t be better situated -- garden centers abound (one within walking distance of the Inn). Last but not least, we love the Inn because of the warm welcome we always receive from Dinie and Carl and their staff. There’s a lot to be said about a place “where everyone knows your name.”

Carl & Dinie~

Just a quick note to Thank You for your time, professional support and advice. We not only had a lovely stay at your Inn, but learned quite a bit at your "HOW2BB" seminar as well. I hope some day you will be guests at our Inn, when our dream comes true! Take Care!

Our Dearest Dinie, Carl and Jesse,

Our most heartfelt thanks t you for a great couple of days in your Carriage House suite. For the past 16 years, the Wedgwood (read the Glassman's) have been our sanctuary from reality. Now as new parents we have come to find that even New Hope and Lambertville cannot always serve as the great escape. But your Wedgwood Inns still can. Your kindness, gentleness, spirit and generosity remain as wonderful reminders of the best of New Hope, and for that we are forever grateful.

  - D. and S. and the twins, Wilmington, DE

Hello. We just wanted to drop a note about our visit this past week. We had a wonderful stay and wanted to thank you. We especially appreciated your tips on how to shop "Rice's Market". I didn't think anything in the country could be so busy on a Tuesday morning!

Thanks so much for a great stay and we'll see you again in the winter. Happy Anniversary.

Take care,

  - Bryan and Katie, Boston, MA

Hi Dinie and carl.

Great to spend some time at your Wedgwood Inn again. I remember a lot of our stay there (it was 1989 and I was trying to have kids. Went to a tarot card reader in town who told me that she saw "two boys on my lap." My sons are now 14 and 16!).  I promise that we'll return before another 17 years pass by!

  - J., Stanford, CT

Thank you once again for the wonderful (but sadly brief!) time with you!

I am so sorry - I just realized as we were pulling into Brooklyn that I still had your room key in my pocket!  (Last year, we leave a shirt...this year, the key... perhaps there is some unconscious desire to never leave Wedgewood!)

Take care and hope to see you soon!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for creating such a wonderful collection of the most relaxing spots on earth!!!! The weekend we just spent in the Umpleby House was comparable to a month of absolutely relaxation.  Alan and I thought it was special two years ago and it was, but this time it was extraordinary.

While some might balk at the 6 hour drive from where we live, I can only attest to the fact that after an hour, the drive is totally forgotten, such is the magic of the experience.  The rooms, the wonderful breakfast, the setting and especially the staff, make it something everyone should experience. It’s certainly a better way to ward off stress than a year in therapy might be.  We have already resolved that next year we are going to spend a week.

You are wonderful hosts and your touch, warmth and genuine hospitality are second to none.
Thank you.

Hi Carl,Wedgwood Inn of New Hope, PA - Guests

It was nice meeting you and your mother. Here are all the Cotons and their mommies at the Wedgwood last weekend. Your staff was warm, friendly, and very helpful. We all really appreciated it.

From a Systems Consultant from Florida

You folks have no idea of how great it was to enjoy your hospitality over my 6 month consulting assignment in Trenton with the State of New Jersey. This is one of the most pleasant away-from-home-business-trip-cycles ever! Thank you for keeping it professional yet casual, and clean, comfortable and cool. I actually look forward to my next job assignment in NJ so I can stay here again! And I look forward to returning with my wife to experience the fall foliage.

Carl, Dinie, Jessica, and all of your wonderful staff,

Thanks to you all for a delightful stay--great night's sleep in a comfy canopy bed, delicious breakfast (I ate most of it ), and very nice service from all.  We went on the steam locomotive ride after saving $2.00 with a coupon we received at Wedgwood Inn and really enjoyed the ambiance of the parlor car and historical info by the conductor.  We will be happy to return to your Inn again and will tell our friends.
Thanks again,

A young couple in love writes:

It was my first time in New Hope Pennsylvania and in a B&B. and i have to say: I had the most wonderful and lovely time. The Inn is so comfortable and cozy that you feel like you are at home, but was run so well and professionally. Our great hosts, Carl and Dinie, and their staff made our stay so enjoyable. Their great suggestions and guidance were a plus....and breakfast was simply delicious!!!!!!

My boyfriend and I shared the corner room with a porch at Umpleby House the first night, then we switched to a Jacuzzi Suite at Wedgwood House that had its own balcony. Both rooms were nice and roomy - and sparkling clean! We both had a great time and shared moments that i won't forget. Thanks for making our first getaway together so special. We will come back.

Aspiring Innkeeper comments about How-To Seminar by Carl

Dear Carl and Dinie,
We wanted to thank you for our experience as aspiring innkeepers at your Seminar. The two days were full of interesting and worthwhile information we will need on our quest to own a B&B. In addition to the chance to ask questions of you and to hear from fellow aspiring innkeepers at the Seminar, we had the unique opportunity to observe a B&B Association committee meeting and attend a luncheon with many B&B owners. Of course our visits to other B&B's made the Seminar complete.

We spent the rest of the week with a broker visiting B&B's in Lancaster County that are for sale and found several that could meet our dreams and needs.

We wish you continued success with the Wedgwood Collection and inspiring more potential innkeepers with your Seminar.
Sincerely,
   -  Tom and Sarah (Nyack, NY)

New Hope for Happy Honeymooners

Thanks to everyone at the Wedgwood for making our wedding service and the whole day so fantastic!  Our three nights with you were way too short...the mattress was sooo  comfortable in our Jacuzzi Suite, and the Breakfast tray the first morning was divine...and we have "New Hope" on our wedding license!  We will definitely be back to celebrate our first anniversary, but images of our service in the Gazebo will be emailed sooner!

Girls 3 Night Escape

Carl, Nadine
Salutations!! It has been my intention (you know how those go!!) to email you on several occasions, however, I have been remiss until now...I'm hoping that my feedback will not carry less weight as the result of the time that has passed since our visit on 2/11, 2/12, 2/13.  In fact it should carry MORE weight, because I'm still thinking back fondly to the time spent @ the Aaron Burr w/ our AMAZING host, EJ!!  My girlfriends and I shared the top floor for the weekend and were greeted each morning by the ever-gregarious EJ and a scrumptious spread!! He made fantastic suggestions for dinner, (Marsha Browns) drinks, (Boat House) and sights around town. I doubt our stay would have been as enjoyable w/out his guidance and enthusiasm for our "vacation"!! I have already had several occasions to speak of our stay in your lovely B&B and have directed many to your web-site. I hope that you value the feedback of your former (and hopefully future) guests, as that was my intention in offering it up for your perusal. EJ is a TRUE asset to your already fine establishment!!  I would be thrilled to find him still in attendance upon my next visit to New Hope and the Aaron Burr House!!  Thanks again for your hospitality!!

From a New Jersey Guest, now living in Florida

Dear Carl and Dinie,
We're now living in Florida and get the St. Petersburg Times and lo and behold, isn't there a beautiful article about the Wedgwood Inn.  Further, I got onto your website and it's a Beauty!Very classy and just right...love the "Pillow Talk" and the entire format.  So, we hasten to say hello and keep up the good work on all counts.

A Satisfied Houseguest Emails Three Months Later

Hello, Nadine--
My husband and I had a very enjoyable stay at the Wedgewood Inn back in November.  At breakfast one morning, you gave us a pot of PG Tips Tea.  At the time, you said it was only available in England. I don't know if you have come across it yet in the States, but I found it! It is available through the Vermont Country Store. Have you ever seen their catalog? They also have a website from which you can order the tea:  vermontcountrystore.com.  Thanks again for an enjoyable stay!  Happy New Year!
  -  Antoinette (Boston, MA - January 2005)

Another Satisfied Inn Guest Emails

Hi Dinie and Carl!
Frank and I have stayed with you a number of times over the past several years. Much to our joy, we found you after several disappointing experiences at another New Hope Inn.

We would like to make a reservation for Friday/Saturday February 25 and 26 but through the website I'm getting the message that there are no availabilities.  Are any of your beautiful rooms available those two nights?  The 26th is our wedding anniversary and we were looking forward to spending it with you. Please let me know if there is anything available!  Thank you!!!
  -  Lynn and Frank (Princeton, NJ - January 2005)

Another Satisfied Guest

I just returned from spending the night at your inn (The Loft Suite). I wanted to let you know how much my girlfriend and I loved it. When we arrived your innkeeper made reservations for us at Marsha Brown's and gave us a tour. We neglected to tell him we wanted breakfast delivered to the room (though he offered) and when we checked out we assumed that we would need to find somewhere to park and find breakfast as we had missed the one at the inn. Much to our delight, when we checked out (mind you after we were technically no longer guests) we were offered breakfast since we had missed it!! I couldn't believe it...and not just leftovers, warm croissants, muffins, just wonderful. We were then told to go ahead and stay parked if we liked, come back and use the bathroom if necessary and that we were welcome to come for tea at 4 if we were around (unfortunately we didn't make it for tea). I was and am still amazed.
I can tell you that I will be back whenever I stay in New Hope and will certainly recommend your inn. A great place, and a great bunch of people. I can't thank you enough for making the trip (a birthday celebration for me) and fantastic experience. Everyone there should be commended.  Thanks again.

From a 20 year innkeeper in Maine

Hello...just wanted to let you know your website is so personal and delicious too! It really reflects your inn.  Over the years we've enjoyed 8 stays with you as we take the Snow Bird route to Florida each November, and return to Maine in April.  So it was great fun to see your website for the first time, and how personable it is.  I have a heart crunch feeling for your dog, Jasper...the poetry on your Host page was endearing....Your Recipe page captures your baking prowess too, except it can't do justice for the great aromas emanating from the inn kitchen...

Family Reunion

I truly appreciated your mailing back to me the 'left behind' items.  Thank you.  We enjoyed our extended stay at the Wedgwood Inn tremendously - nothing could have been more perfect for a family reunion.  This was the unanimous opinion - a once in a lifetime experience, and you and your cordial staff made it all happen.. While 4 family members stayed with my brother in Princeton, we lucky 15 staying at the Wedgwood enjoyed the warmth and comfort of your gracious hospitality and lovely appointed accommodations - with all the features of visiting an old family-friend - but none of the hassles of staying with a relative.  We were fortunate to find your inn.  More than half of us will be back in June for Martin's graduation from Princeton University.
  -  Mary B. (Florida)

Family Travel

We had a lovely 12 day holiday in New Hope thanks to you and your staff.  While father was working in Princeton by day, I took the boys ( ages 11 and 13) on day trips to New York City, Delaware (Longwood Gardens and Wintertur) and New Jersey (Atlantic City and Princeton University campus) and of course all over Pennsylvania.  The boys most enjoyed coming 'home' to the Wedgwood and playing with Jessica and Tootsie-the-Lab, and exploring your historic village on foot.  The Steam Train ride, Bucks County Playhouse and Canal Boat Ride was fun but no match for the Tree House in your backyard! If my husband's business venture goes forward, he'll be staying with you more often, and we look forward to visiting you too on school holidays.

Single Woman Leisure Traveler

3 years in between visits is way too long. After a great night of live theatre and drinking at the outdoor martini lounges on South Main Street in New Hope, it was nice to walk home to 'my Wedgwood Inn'. You have really created an oasis of comfort & cordiality here. Look for me in the spring.
     -  Patty (Maryland)

Romantic Getaway

An enjoyable stay at the Wedgwood. Great location, easy walk to Lambertville and all of New Hope is a step away. Friendly staff. Thanks for your hospitality and especially for your special efforts to locate my lost car keys...I know we checked out our brains as we checked in our luggage! The Piano Bar was just too much fun. Oh well, what happens in New Hope, stays in New Hope!
     -  Joel and Arline (Atlanta)

Romantic Getaway

Wedgwood is a super comfy, cozy, beautifully decorated inn. The home baked Pumpkin Squares and Chocolate Chip cookies were nice touches; Carl's Almond hootch (better than Amaretto) and the fresh-picked apples from Manoff's Orchard were over the top! Our Breakfast in bed tray was tasty and pretty to look at too. Loved New Hope and the whole inn experience.

Anniversary Celebration

Fourteen years ago my sister gave us a gift certificate to the Wedgwood for our anniversary.  We have been back every year for our anniversary since then.  We have stayed in many of the rooms and found them all equally wonderful.  And Carl and Nadine never forget our anniversary - there is always a bottle of wine and a lovely note to wish us well.  Breakfasts at the Wedgwood are always interesting.  This is where my husband and I meet and strike up conversations with other house guests.  This year we met a couple celebrating their first anniversary as we celebrated our 26th.  Yes, we enjoy coming back to the Wedgwood for the touches that make us feel at home, but at the same time make you feel like someone special.  In a way, coming to the Wedgwood Inn is better than coming home.
  -  M and B (New Jersey)

Business Traveler

As always, it was a wonderful and pleasant stay.  After a long day working it's nice to relax in a Jacuzzi tub while on the road.  Carl and Nadine and the whole crew at the Wedgwood are great with hospitality, warmth and knowledgeable about things to do in the evening.  They are always there for you, but never intrusive -- they just try to make the stay exactly what you need.
  -  Susan (Pittsburgh)

Executive Day Meeting

Thank you for making our Executive Committee Retreat our most successful to date.  Great meeting space.  My colleagues enjoyed their "afternoon break" in the gazebo so much that we completed our afternoon session in your lovely and inviting backyard.  Your breakfast, lunch and break selections were delicious.  I am writing to congratulate you on a job well done.  We are a fussy group, but even my most fussy colleagues are heaping superlatives of you, your staff and your Inn.  Thank you for making my duty as meeting facilitator so much easier.
  -  Robert Wood Johnson Foundation

Overnight Business Meeting

I wanted to let you know how much we all enjoyed our stay here.  The meeting arrangements were excellent and your staff did a wonderful job.  My people were so impressed with your accommodations and we accomplished all of our goals.  The Phillips Mill Inn and The Landing were excellent choices for dinner and all of my people fell in love with New Hope.  We will be back.  Thanks again.
