Westchester Magazine 16 Best Inns

"In our recent travels to New Hope, Pennsylvania, we met Carl Glassman – innkeeper and co-author of the book How to Start and Run Your Own Bed and Breakfast Inn, now available its second edition. Carl and wife Nadine also offer innkeeping seminars that allow would-be innkeepers to share their interest during a two-day one-night workshop in a relaxed small-group setting.

Carl’s book is available through the usual online sources, but you can purchase an autographed copy by calling the Wedgwood Inn directly (215-862-2570) or online at www.wedgwoodinn.com. The web site also offers information about the Wedgwood’s innkeeping seminars and individually tailored innkeeping apprenticeship programs."

Some places seem to draw you over and over again.  One such place is New Hope, Pennsylvania. New Hope is a small, historic riverside village with a big name in the arts, theatre, antiques and live entertainment and fine dining. Indeed it can get crowded, and parking is at a premium, if at all, but we have a better idea for you.

All in all the Wedgwood House is a superb get away and, adding the neat towns of New Hope and Lambertville into the mix, will make for a great escape. If you visit as part of a group they another property right next door - the Umpleby House, which is just as wonderfully accompanied with the personal touches the Glassman's have done to the Wedgwood.

The 1870 Wedgwood Inn was “Voted Best of Philly” as a Bed and Breakfast Inn by the readers and editors of Philadelphia Magazine.

Well now you can add golf to the list of items making this Southeastern section of Pennsylvania famous. Jericho National Golf Club, which opened just four years ago, is quickly becoming a classic. It is getting praise by the pound, and it even is getting mentioned in the same breath as some American classics.

All three inns in the Wedgwood Collection of Historic Inns were featured in this issue.

And a bohemian, laid-back spot in the decades following D-Day, that would wind up being a mecca for art and craft galleries, eclectic shops, antique shows and restaurants and B&B’s that has a national and international appeal.

The legend of New Hope continues and the Wedgwood Collection of Inns is the archetypal American bed and breakfast inn…"

The Inns serve tasty breakfasts including fresh fruit, homemade breads and a hot entree.  The hearty food speeds visitors on their way as they gather collectibles, paintings, penny candy, and the impressions of a town where yesterday enriches today..."

NEW HOPE, Pa.  - Pennsylvania's Bucks County is famous for its beautiful color in the fall and the views of its hills overlooking the Delaware River. Hot-air balloon rides this time of year are at a premium.  It's famous for its covered bridges, and people come from miles away to take driving tours of the old oak structures, complete with windows on either side.

Make some time, book any room - or suite in any House. All are more than reasonably priced for the value received. Stay another day; sleep over and enjoy New Hope in a whole different light!"

“New Hope – what a great name for a town! Particularly when, as in this case, its origin symbolized fresh dreams. In 1790, when Benjamin Parry’s grist mill burnt to the ground, he rebuilt it and named it “The New Hope Mill.” The towns people of what was then known as Coryell’s Ferry, admired the new name so much they adopted it for their village – and New Hope, PA was born.

It's called the 1870 Wedgwood Collection of Inns, owned and operated by Nadine and Carl Glassman and their wonderfully attentive staff.... Wedgwood House is a stately blue and white manse set on lovely and lush grounds yet just steps to the heart of town, and it offers free on-site parking for houseguests!

They were a cocky bunch, full of hope and confidence in the future, but even the most imaginative among them couldn’t have forecast that New Hope would become a creative colony of artists and writers.  And home to one of the country’s finest regional theatres.
